I JUST MADE THIS PIN CUSHION AS A CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR A FRIEND OF MINE USING A RECYCLE BOTTLE. SHE LOVED IT!! I MADE IT PERSONALIZED WITH HER NAME ON IT. ALL HAND MADE, EVEN THE PAINTING. I HOPE YOU CAN DO ONE OF THIS AS A CHRISTMAS GIFT OR FOR YOURSELF.
YOU MAY NEED.:
Gel glue (Aleene's works wonderful!)
a piece of fabric.
E-6000 (but you may use a hot gun. I did not have one by the time I was making this pin cushion. On my list already!)
Thread
Needle
Ribbon of your choice
Some tiny roses.
Pencil or Taylor's chalk.
With a pencil mark the circumference of the lid. Add 2 inches.
Baste with thread at 1/4 inch from the edge. I used double thread.
Now it is time to fill it. You may use any soft fiber, or some scrap of fabric, like I did.
Now pull the thread until all the opening is closed. Make some stiches to secure the fabric.
Now, crush the small ball with your finger to give it some form and firmness. (Hummmm, I need a manicure)
Glue the small ball to the top of the lid using the super glue or the heat gun. Around the edge you may want to put some ribbon. Glue it in place.
The painting: First, with a permanent market (I do not know why they call it "permanent" because in the bottle you can erase it with some damp paper or fabric) write some thought, in this case I wrote: "Sewing mends the soul" because I know that Babs likes to sew and she is a terrific lady!.
Second: I used a thin brush and purple acrylics paints to make the words and light blue color to paint the needle.
Third: I wrote her name on the back of the bottle. (at front there are the words)
On top of the pin cushion I paint roses to add more detail to the pin cushion. And voila! If you want you can put inside some buttons, or scissors, or candies. And this is a perfect Christmas gift. All hand made. What a beautiful detail!
I hope you can do it.
happy sewing!
THANK YOU FOR VISITING MY BLOG.
