How to fold your fabric like a Pro by Alison Show

Hi, my dear friends:

I like to sew, as you already know, but I am not so organized and my fabrics are all around when I finish my sewing day. That is why I wonder how some sewing ladies and crafters show their craft/sewing corner neat and organized. That seems to me like if they haven't done any sewing/craft  project over there.

Well, in the following link you will learn how to fold your fabrics and have them organized.

HOW TO MAKE A BLENDER COVER-VIDEO

I was asked to make a blender cover. Truth is that I do not have a blender so it was impossible for me to take the measurements of the kitchen appliance, but after searching the net I found that there is a myriad of size blenders: small, medium, large and also brands of them.
So I called my sister in law and asked her to take the measurements of her blender. It is a medium one, though. Hummmm...I think that there must be a standard measurement for a blender, right?. It is hard to say because all the market brands want to be original.

Anyway. I think that the following would help as a standard. But, check with the one you have at home first, before you cut your fabric.

Blender Cover:
High: 17"
Long: 7 1/2"
Wide: 7 1/4"

I found a video that shows how to make a Blender Cover, it is in Spanish but I think you can understand the process by watching it

http://informaciona.com/video/5-clase-vistiendo-la-cocina-fundas-para-electrodomesticos_zbgAbI3wx3w.

I hope you like it and I encourage you to make your own!  It is going to be fun!

Microwavable Rice Heating Pads

Once I had this weird pain on my shoulder, so I called my aunt, she lives in Peru,  and she told me to heat rice on a microwave for 30 seconds or so and then put it on to the pain spot. I must admit that I did it not so convince but I trusted my aunt and her ancient advice...and do you know what??? the pain disappear!...

Here is what I did: I put some rice on a Ziploc bag and heat the rice, however, it was hot...so I decided to wrapped it on a hand towel...that worked!
Later, searching the net I found this microwable Rice Heating Pads on sewing4Home. On the following link you can find the tutorial to make one for you.

Sewing Tips – Clipping Corners and Curves

Sewing Tips – Clipping Corners and Curves by Allfreesewing.

I am making some of my Oven Door Kitchen Towels (in the future ODKT) and I had some problems with the corners, to make them flat. So I started to search the net, and look what I found?  A really easy process in making them flat! In the next link you will find a very didactic explanation with pictures that makes easy to understand the process and also explains why it is so important to keep curves and corners flat.

Oven door Kitchen Towel by 6diamondsintherough

Hello, my dear friends:

My sister bought years ago an Oven Door Kitchen towel that she treasured so dearly. Now it is old and faded because of the thousands washed to it. And the fact is that she does not want to get rid of it, consequently, she has asked me to make a new one for her, just the same model of the old one. So, as I never ever made an Oven Door Kitchen Towel, I used the same pattern of the old one and made a new one for her.

OLD OVEN DOOR KITCHEN TOWEL

The next picture shows the new Oven Door Kitchen Towel that I made for her. It is reversible unlike the old one, so she can use both sides.
The new Oven Door Kitchen Towel that I have made for my sister.

The new one is even a little bit larger than the old one, as you can see in the next picture.

I made this Oven door kitchen with my few notions of sewing, nevertheless, after I finished my ODT (=Oven Door Towel) I started to search the net (you already know me!! what I do not know, I learn!) trying to find some tutorial that make me easy the sewing of the bodice for my futures ODT, and I found this wonderful blog with a step and step tutorial of how to make a ODT, it even has a video tutorial, as a plus, so you can understand better the whole process. Enjoy!.

You can find the tutorial in the next link:

Treasured wooden box for threads.

A couple of years ago, I found this treasure at the Thrift Store near my home. It was so beautiful and I was so lucky to found it. I used to put some old lovely letters on it.

But now that I have my sewing corner, I thought that it would be so lovely if I put some of my threads on it, and my old letters have been treasured in another place.

THANKS FOR THE FABRIC DONATION!

Yesterday, I got three yards, different prints, of fabric from my sister. And along with them, a desk mat for my sewing corner, to put it under my chair. I am so touched!
Thanks to her that sent me this bundle of fabric! I am so grateful!! And they are so lovely. I love the patterns on it!

Immediately, I started to sew my Tea Towels project. I have already finished the first two couples of them, using one of the fabrics that she sent to me. The little detail of the pink flower is so cute, isn't it??  And this is the picture of it. (on the left side my fabric gift and on the right side the Tea Towels that I have made using one of them, actually the one of the bottom, can you see it?).

SEWING MENDS THE HEART!!

Thank you little sis...you warmth my heart!!! and also thank you for the office mat for my desk...

Tea Time Kitchen Appliqué: Pretty Pockets Half Apron By sew4home.

Hi, everyone!

Last year, I got a yard of cotton, with a very 70's design on it,  that I loved as soon as I saw it. And it was on my drawer waiting patiently until I decided what to do with it. Until now. I was looking at it and thinking what to do with it. And suddenly I got a brainstorm!! I thought it was going to be so nice to make an apron and matching dish towel with it. So, as always, you already know me, I started to search the net, google, youtube and so on until I found how to do them. I found this beautiful "Tea Time Kitchen Appliqué: Pretty Pockets Half Apron" by sew4home. You can find the step by step tutorial at the following link:

I loved the page and the step by step is so easy and has lots of pictures.

P.S. Still sewing my apron and dish towel, when I finish I will post the pictures.

Thanks for visiting my blog!

May all the angels in heaven be with you.
